Tickets for the dance will go on sale the week of Tuesday 1-22-19 at lunchtime. The cost is $5 for a single ticket and $8 for a double ticket.  The cost of the tickets at the door is $8 and no doubles will be sold. These ticket prices are a great deal and cheaper than normal, so get them while they last!

 

Locker Decoration Contest :

Decorate your locker for Up, Up and Away basketball homecoming!   They need to be decorated by Tues. Jan.  22 and will be judged on Thursday Jan. 24.  Winners will be announced at the basketball game on Saturday. Decorations will be taken down after the game so if there is anything on the lockers that students want to keep they needed to be taken off on Friday.  Make sure your locker number is showing and please NO stickers.  You could win best themed, most colorful, most unique or people’s choice (by grade)

 

On Tuesday, February 5th, Sgt. Matthew Smith, U.S. Army will be at HHHS to talk to students who are interested in hearing about U.S. Army programs.  Interested students must sign up in the Guidance Office.  The meeting with Sgt. Smith will take place during the student's lunch period.  See Mr. Wilkerson if you have additional questions.

 

Health Careers Camp 2019 – July 24-25-26 - Memorial Hospital and Vincennes University

Are you interested in learning more about health careers?  Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center and Vincennes University Jasper Campus Heath Careers Camp is designed for you. This camp will provide high school students (sophomores, juniors, or seniors) with engaging activities, educational sessions and practical advice to further explore and pursue health care careers. This 3 day, 8:30am to 3:00pm, action-packed camp will give participants insight into college life and a variety of health care careers.  Application packets can be picked up in the HHHS Guidance Office.  Camp fee is $30. Registration is limited with deadline to apply being June 3.

 

 

Students participating in the FFA Pest Contest- the contest ends on Friday morning.  Please bring all collections to Mr. Steinmetz's classroom Friday morning between 7:00 and the start of school.  Winning teams will receive prizes!

 

Are you interested in law enforcement or the military? Consider attending the Indiana Youth Cadet Law Enforcement Academy this summer. A local American Legion may pay the fee. Attention JUNIORS : You are invited to attend Hoosier Girls or Boys State, to be held this summer at Trine University in June. It is paid for by the local American Legion. This is a unique summertime educational program that is designed to mirror the structure and operation of the Indiana state government, while providing training in citizenship, leadership and character development. Some past attendees include former Governor Mitch Daniels, Senator Lugar, Astronaut Neil Armstrong, President  Bill Clinton, and Basketball player Michael Jordan. It is an honor to attend. Attention Girls: The 8th annual Young Women LEAD workshop is scheduled for Thursday, March 14th, 2019 at Vincennes University Jasper Campus! Young Women LEAD is a conference for high school girls focusing on Leadership, Education And Development!   The program lasts a full day (7:30 CST - 1:30 CST) and has featured speakers. Topics covered include health and fitness, careers, social media, managing stress, interviewing skills, money management and many others that are informative and inspiring. The event is free, and students receive a free lunch, t-shirt, goodie bag and opportunities to win prizes. Students can register now at www.youngwomenlead.com Spots will fill up quickly, so students must register promptly. The Guidance Department at HHHS will be hosting an informational session for the Class of 2020 and their parents on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 6:30 p.m CST in the auditorium. “Senior Year 101” will provide important information for the Juniors as they prepare for their senior year. Regardless of a student’s plans after high school, this program has something for everyone. Sophomores and their parents are also welcome to attend! Ask a counselor if questions.

Junior Class Only - Southern Indiana Power Youth Tour – June 13-20, 2019

Southern Indiana Power has the opportunity to send a high school junior (who will be a senior in the Fall of 2019) on a trip of a lifetime to Washington D.C. This is an all-expense paid trip and the seven-day trip includes visits to Gettysburg, Arlington National Cemetery, Jefferson, MLK Jr., and FDR memorials, and will meet with the Indiana congressional delegation. Once in D.C. the junior gets to attend a youth rally where typically 1600 other youth tour delegates from across the country are there to meet and mingle as well.

Online applications for Southern Indiana Power’s Youth Tour June 13-20 are available on IndianaYouthTour.org. Applications are due February 1, 2019. Once your application is submitted you will be required to submit a 1-2 minute video about yourself (so the board of directors can put a face to the application and get to know you a little better). Instructions on the video will be sent after the application submission.

Community Foundation Alliance Scholarships – Spencer County

The Community Scholarship Program is made up of various scholarships funds.  These opportunities were created by donors to provide Spencer County students with opportunities for advanced education.  Go to www.communityfoundationalliance.org/spencer/scholarships/apply/  Read the instructions and tips on How to Apply.  Locate Spencer Scholarships – See All. Read over each scholarship’s criteria to determine your eligibility.  Note----deadlines and access codes vary.  Once you are ready to apply, click on the Apply button to be redirected to the application portal. After the online applications are submitted, HHHS will receive a list from the organization of all the student's names and send them the transcripts at that time.

Sophomores Only-

The University of Indianapolis is seeking nominations from high schools across the region for sophomores to attend the 2019 Mayor Gregory A. Ballard Summit: Embracing the Future.  We ask Indiana schools to nominate three sophomores with strong interest in business, technology and entrepreneurship. This event will be held at the University of Indianapolis Saturday, February 16, 2019. Students will engage in discussions with former Indianapolis Mayor Ballard on the future of business, innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership–and the role this group of students will play in shaping the future. No cost to you except providing travel expenses to Indianapolis. Stop by the Guidance Office if interested in being considered as a candidate.

Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship Program

We offer scholarships up to $15,000.00 to be distributed to the most qualified applicants of direct descendants of graduates of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Evansville, IN.  The scholarship has been established for the express purpose of providing assistance to a student pursing education in order to obtain a license for Registered Nursing.  Deadline March 8, 2019.  Applications are available online at www.deaconess.com or stop by the HHHS Guidance Office for info.

 

 

American Society for Quality $500 Scholarship – Evansville/Owensboro Section

Purpose: To assist a student who plans to attend an accredited two or four-year college program or accredited Technical School

Eligibility: Recipient must be a graduate during the application year from a home school, an accredited high school or learning facility within the geographic area served by ASQ Evansville-Owensboro Section 0915 or either of whose parents are members of the ASQ Evansville-Owensboro Section 0915. The scholarship will be awarded to the person selected by the Selection Committee, independent of any connection with ASQ membership (you or your family member(s) do not have to be a member of ASQ to be awarded). To receive the scholarship amount, the recipient must be admitted to or enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student to an accredited college / university, with an established student account.

Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union Scholarship Program - Ten $5000 will be awarded

We are pleased to announce we are continuing the Ted Hitch Scholarship Program.  

Qualifications:  1. Applicant or applicant’s parent/guardian must be a member of ETFCU for at least 18 months prior to 3/1/19  2. Student must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale  3. Required use of at least 3 ETFCU services (see Section 1 on the application)  Stop by the HHHS Guidance Office for instructions and an application. Applications must be received by 3-1-19!
