Parents/Guardians,

I hope you all stayed safe and warm this week. Because we were out, we will now be in session on February 16th, May 1st, and April 6th.  The boys basketball game and Homecoming are still on for tonight!

We would like to extend a special thank you to the North Spencer County School Corporation Board of School Trustees. January is School Board Appreciation Month, and we are truly grateful for their leadership and service. We are fortunate to work alongside a Board that consistently prioritizes students and supports the success of our schools. Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

On Wednesday, February 4th we will be hosting Parent/Teacher Conferences from 3:30-7:00 pm. This year instead of having 2 dates in September, we moved one of them to February as sometimes students have teacher/class changes at the start of the new semester. On this night we will also have the following happening:

  • Meet with teachers 3:30-7:00 pm. This is midterm for the 3rd quarter. This is a great time to talk to your child’s teachers about how they are doing in class or how they can get more help if needed.

  • Career and Technical Education Open House–Come see what our students are doing in the Engineering, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Auto, Health Sciences, Computer Science, and Business classes!  Local industries, businesses, and the community are WELCOME! This will be held from 5:30-7:00. Students will be on site to show and explain what they have been learning and doing.

  • Our Guidance Department will have informative mini sessions. Each session will be repeated, so that you can choose to go to 2 of the 3 of these sessions. Session 1 will begin at 5:30 and Session 2: 6:00. See the attached flyer.

SAT SCHOOL DAY

All juniors will take the SAT at school on Tuesday, March 10. This assessment is a state requirement and serves as an important accountability measure for our school. In addition, SAT scores may be used for college admissions and scholarship consideration. Even for students who do not plan to attend college, the results provide valuable data that help us identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth as a school. Please plan accordingly and ensure your 11th-grade student is present that day. Thank you for your support.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS

HHHS will start an Intramural Volleyball and Dodgeball League on Sunday afternoons in February/March. Students can show up to the Red Gym at 1:00. Teams will be decided the day of with students that are present. To play, students must turn in the parent signature paper. The purpose is to provide a fun, inclusive opportunity for students to be active, build teamwork, and enjoy friendly competition. This opportunity is made possible through the efforts of the PATS group, which secured grant funding from the Spencer County Community Foundation. We are grateful for their support.

WINTER PEP SESSION

On Friday, January 23rd, we celebrated our Winter activities with a schoolwide Pep Session.

RAK and RESPECT WEEK - February 9 - 13.

February includes National “Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week” and is "Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month", and so Heritage Hills Natural Helpers and several school clubs and organizations put together a week of activities to emphasize kindness but also respect, safety, and healthy relationships. During this week, Crisis Connection will be presenting in health classes and Junior and Senior English classes. In addition, Purdue Extension will be providing “Teen Mental Health First Aid” training in health classes for several sessions. We appreciate the expertise and support of our great community educators and resources! During "RAK and Respect Week", there will be kindness challenges and opportunities to participate in activities for fun and fundraising. Watch for more information!

HHHS RILEY HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN DANCE MARATHON

Heritage Hills Dance Marathon is on Saturday, February 21, from 12-9 p.m. in the Red Gym. HHDM is currently looking for Riley families to share their testimonies at the event. If you have a Riley testimony you would like to share, please contact Meg Johnson at mjohnson@nspencer.k12.in.us.
