Open to HHHS graduates attending college as a sophomore, junior, or senior
and majoring in agriculture or forestry or aviation. A preference will be given to agriculture.
If insufficient number of college students apply,
the scholarship will be made available to current graduating seniors of HHHS.

Community Scholarship Program through the Spencer County Community Foundation 
The 2022-2023 applications are now closed
The deadline was February 3, 2023.

Many of our donors have honored their loved ones, communities, high schools, colleges, or professions by endowing scholarship opportunities through the Foundation.  We administer separate scholarship funds established by individuals, families, corporations, and organizations to assist local students in pursuit of advanced education.  Together, these scholarships make up our Community Scholarship Program.

Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship

If you are a descendant of a graduate of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, this scholarship opportunity could be for you if you are pursuing a license for Registered Nursing. Go to:   www.deaconess.com  and  follow these instructions:

  • Possess a 3.3. cumulative GPA from high school

Important  LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES are listed in red print below this information.  You need to read through each application form (click on the words 2023 application form) to find out if you qualify. If you quality, you need to print and completely fill out the application form.  Completed application forms and any additional paperwork must be given to Mrs. Knies in the HHHS Guidance Office by the deadline date.  Late forms will NOT be accepted.  Note, if the application form states to mail it to the donor's address, it is your responsibility to take care of that.  If required, Mrs. Knies will print and attach your transcript upon receipt of the completed application forms.

Ferdinand Post 124 American Legion Scholarship
Open to a senior who is a child or grandchild of any Ferdinand Post 124 member, Sons of Legion member, or Auxiliary member.  This scholarship can be used for any four-year college, trade school, or a community college to obtain an associate degree. This application must be returned to the Ferdinand Legion Post.

Gill Orthodontics
We are pleased to continue our scholarship program established in 2004.  Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded to eligible high school seniors who are in treatment or have been in treatment with Gill Orthodontics.  You may go to our webpage for more information and to print a copy of the application form at www.gillorthodontics.com.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be of Hispanic heritage

U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA 

Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students; minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for college and graduate students.

Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, public or not-for-profit, four-year university, or graduate school, in the US, for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms (if applicable)

INDOT seeks applicants for Engineering Scholarship Program
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is seeking applicants for its Engineering Scholarship Program, available for undergraduate and graduate students.
Recipients receive financial assistance, as well as opportunities for paid employment
during summer breaks and upon graduation.
Students must be accepted or enrolled full-time
in one of Indiana’s accredited Civil Engineering schools. The program must also be certified
by Indiana’s Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Eligible
universities with ABET-certified Civil Engineering programs include Purdue University,
Purdue University Fort Wayne, Purdue University Northwest, Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology, Trine University, University of Evansville, University of Notre Dame, University
of Southern Indiana, Indiana State University and Valparaiso University.
INDOT’s scholarship program offers $3,125 per semester or $2,083 per trimester for up to five years of
post-secondary Civil Engineering education. Scholarship funds may be applied to
educational expenses, fees, and books. In return, recipients have the opportunity to work at
INDOT in full-time, paid positions during summer breaks and upon graduation.

Two types of scholarships are awarded:

Kimball International Scholarship for students attending two and four year colleges.
Must be a dependent of an active employee of U.S. Kimball International or a past Kimball

Bob Schneider Trades School Scholarship for students pursuing a skilled trades certification

LifeSpring Health Systems

We are a community healthcare organization that serves almost 12,000 individuals across 11 counties in Southern Indiana. Every year, the LifeSpring Foundation of Indiana organizes a high school senior scholarship and 8th grade essay contest open to all 8th graders and seniors at schools in our service area. One senior and 8th grader from each county (Clark, Crawford, Dubois, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Orange, Perry, Scott, Spencer and Washington) we serve will be selected by a committee made up of the LifeSpring Foundation Board of Trustees. Winning senior applicants will receive a one-time $500 scholarship and winning 8th grade participants will receive a one-time $100 award while the 8th grade referring teacher will receive a $25 Amazon gift card to be used for school supplies/other needs

Nancy Jaynes Memorial Scholarship –
Awarded to Indiana high school seniors who have lost a parent or have a parent currently undergoing breast cancer treatment. Scholarships up to $2500 are available to students

USI Foundation Scholarships
Application Deadline: January 31, 2024
Description: Funded through the generosity of private donors.
There are approximately 100 USI Foundation scholarships reserved for new,
incoming freshmen. Students' applications match them with any scholarships for which
they meet the criteria set forth by the donor. Students access the application through
their myUSI account that is created once they are admitted to USI.
